What Are 5 Coping Skills for Anxiety ?

Typically, experiencing a certain degree of anxiety is normal. But when these feelings become chronic, they can evolve into a significant problem. An anxiety disorder is characterised by a person frequently experiencing feelings of anxiety, terror, panic, or fear. This persistent state of unrest is not only unhealthy but can also negatively impact the individual’s quality of life.

Anxiety disorder could be difficult to control in some circumstances. Aside from seeking medical solutions or using tms therapy, there are some tips that help you cope with anxiety. 

Physically activity

Physical therapy is one of the best ways to deal with anxiety. Create a routine that ensures that you are physically active on most days of the week. Also, incorporate exercises into your routine. Exercising improves your mood and increases the amount of blood flowing to your brain and other body parts. Well, you can start with simple exercises and then gradually increase the intensity.

Avoid alcohol and quit smoking

Unfortunately, many people that suffer from anxiety disorder go to alcohol and cigarettes for help. Even though alcohol and smoking may reduce tension at some point, it is not permanent or lasts for a while. When the alcohol is no longer in your system, you will become anxious again. Incidentally, such a routine will lead to alcoholism and addiction to cigarettes. Sometimes, when these two bad habits no longer work, some people switch to hard drugs, which are worse.

Sleep and eat well 

When you don’t get enough sleep, it could lead to anxiety. Sleeping helps you rest your brain and improves your ability to remain calm. In addition to sleeping well, you also need a balanced diet. These days a balanced diet means different things to a lot of people. For example, eating fruits and less fatty foods will improve your health. Also, drink water instead of beverages. 

Stick to your treatment plan

If you are receiving treatment, then you need to stick to the plan. Anxiety disorder has several stages, and the health practitioner would know what medications you need to feel better. If your health consultant says to sleep more, then follow through and take all your medications. Don’t start another treatment plan until you are sure the previous one is not working. Whatever the case, if you are on a treatment plan and it is not working, let the physician know.


As matter of fact, you should socialise more often because it helps reduce anxiety. Sometimes anxiety happens when you are afraid of speaking in a crowd. Therefore, socializing makes you bolder and less nervous about talking to people in the crowd. Nevertheless, don’t be rude in your quest to socialise. 

Identify triggers

Keep a journal and find out what requires your anxiety. Find out the situations that cause mental stress, and lead to anxiety. Usually, some situations trigger anxiety. Identifying what triggers your anxiety will help you heal faster. Also, when you identify it, reach out to a physician for help.


Usually, anxiety is caused by worries and stress. Remember, your worries will not go away without seeking help. It may even worsen if you refuse to seek help. A healthcare provider knows the best treatment for anxiety and how to remain intact. 

Furthermore, if you notice symptoms like trembling, sweating when the weather is not hot, feeling helpless, etc., you may suffer from an anxiety disorder. Finally, you can opt for traditional or more sophisticated treatments like tms therapy. The tms therapy cost is less and more effective compared to the traditional ways of treating anxiety and depression.
