Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing modality practised worldwide for health and wellness. Otherwise known as Usui reiki, it promotes the healthy flow of energy and reduces stress. It should be noted that it does not cure mental disorders or illnesses directly and can only be used as a complementary treatment.

Most people who sign up for a reiki santa fe session have no idea what the treatment is like or what to expect. Before jumping to the end results, let us walk you through the process and how it promotes healing.

About Reiki

It is a non-invasive, hands-on energy-healing technique that alleviates stress and anxiety with a gentle touch. Reiki practitioners either place their hands above or on the client’s body to accelerate the body’s natural healing capabilities.

This unique healing technique was developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. The term ‘rei’ translates to universal and ‘ki’ means vital life force energy.

What can I expect in a typical reiki session?

Prior to the session, the reiki practitioner informs the client about the treatment and discusses their expectations. Clients often notify the practitioner about the reason for scheduling the treatment and the illness they want to cure. Typically, a session lasts anywhere between 20 to 90 minutes.

After having a detailed discussion with the practitioner, the client will be asked to lie down on the mat or massage table. Glaring lights are turned off and relaxing music is played in the background to create a comfortable environment.

As part of the treatment, the Reiki practitioner moves their hands above the client’s body or places their hands lightly on certain energy locations. It is a non-invasive, painless treatment performed from a distance. Further, no healing stones or crystals are used for this technique.

Reiki sessions can be practised completely hands-off for participants not comfortable with touch. These sessions are deeply relaxing, often, allowing the participants to go into a meditative state or fall asleep.

Generally, there is no talking in the reiki session, however, if the client is uncomfortable, they are allowed to talk to the reiki healer. Most clients experience feeling a tingling sensation and seeing visualisations. It is encouraged to not resist and let yourself feel free.

What will you feel after a reiki session?

Be it hands-on or hands-off, reiki practitioners know how to maintain a healthy flow of energy and release stress. Reiki healing utilizes universal energy to stimulate deeper relaxation, relieve pain, and boost mood. As it promotes emotional healing, a person will feel more relaxed and happy after the session.

What a person feels after a session differs depending on different factors. Some people experience deep meditative sleep while others feel more energetic. A participant may not feel deep calm after the first session.

As the emotional wounds start to heal after a few sessions, a person will feel lighter and at peace with himself. It offers relief from migraines, nausea, and headaches as well as accelerates the recovery of long-term illnesses.
