We can safely say that working more doesn’t make you more productive. While many believe otherwise, there is a thing callout burnout to consider. Burnouts are very real and can hinder your performances a lot. We suffer burnout due to long hours at the office, taking on more projects than we’re capable of, and more.

In today’s time, burnouts are commonplace. According to a study, 75% of all workers have experienced burnouts at some point. What’s even more damning is that burnouts lead to mental health issues. They can severely impact an employee’s personal and professional life.

So with all that said, what’s the best way to recover after burnout? In our short article, we will talk about the five ways to do that.

More sleep

Sleep is a biological necessity. However, that doesn’t mean you’re getting enough sleep. Loss of sleep is a common symptom of work-related burnouts. Apart from the loss of sleep, other symptoms include insomnia, loss of appetite, fatigue, and more. You can take care of all of these symptoms by simply trying to get more sleep. Even if you’re having a hard time falling asleep due to feeling exhausted by work, there is a way to indeed do so.

One way to try and get more sleep is to change your sleep schedule. If you’re used to a schedule, try to mix it up. Go to bed earlier than usual, and drink less caffeine during the day. As a general rule of thumb, you’re supposed to sleep 7–8 hours every night. If you feel as you can’t do that, then the next tip on this list will help with that.

More exercise

Everyone knows exercising is good for your physical health. But your mental health also benefits by exercising an hour a day. If we consider the burnout symptoms, exercising can help you fall asleep easier by wasting excess energy. To make it work for you, try and exercise before going to bed. This will have the immediate effect of making you more tired.

But the reason why exercising has mind-related benefits is that it recharges your brain and makes you more enthusiastic about work. Exercising also has the immediate effect of making you love your job once again. If you ever find yourself in a similar boat, try and hit the gym to recover from burnout.

Get away from work

When experiencing burnout, the natural thing to do is to step back for a bit. Unfortunately, not everyone can do that. Some of you might be under pressure at work and your bosses won’t allow taking a break. But breaks are important to prevent work-related burnouts.

Thankfully, companies are beginning to get why they should be looking after their employees. More work doesn’t equal better results, and companies are finding it out the hard way. So if you feel exhausted from work, talk to your boss about taking a few days off. If you still have paid vacation days, then take them and try to get some rest.

In recent years, we’re beginning to understand why yoga might be a solution to many health-related problems. Not only is yoga a great way to exercise, but it’s an even better way to distress. Since work-related burnouts cause stress and anxiety, yoga might just be the way to improve your life quality.

You can practice mindfulness with yoga in the form of meditation, do stretches with asana, and perform deep breathing techniques with pranayama. These are all components of yoga that improve your quality of life. Burnouts drastically lower your quality of life, so taking yoga lessons is a great way to counter its negative effects.

Eat a balanced diet

Burnouts evoke feelings of anxiety and stress. Both anxiety and stress can lead to depression and other mental health issues. Another great way to recover from work-related burnout is to eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet consisting of omega-3 fatty acids will naturally provide an emotional boost. Since omega-3 acts as a natural antidepressant, it might be worth eating omega-3 rich foods such as fish, walnuts, and flaxseed oil.

The right way to deal with work-related burnout is to prevent it from happening in the first place.
