Let’s face it, 21st-century life is stressful; work commitments are high, raising a family is a huge responsibility and there is never enough time to get everything done. This can lead to self-medicating to deal with the constant stress; alcohol use is prevalent, society encourages drinking and for some, it is difficult to draw a line regarding alcohol consumption.

Range of addictions

Aside from drugs, there are other addictions, such as gambling, eating and even work can be addictive, although this is not so much of a problem. The list of illegal substances is indeed long and includes:

  • Cocaine
  • Heroin
  • Ketamine
  • Methamphetamine
  • Psychedelics – Mushrooms, LSD and DMT
  • Cannabis
  • Opioids – Prescription anti-depression medication

Of course, there are other illegal substances and if you are dependent on any substance, book into the best drug rehab in Thailand, where experts are ready to help you beat your addiction.

Developing a tolerance

It is normal for a user to develop a tolerance over a period of time and this can be dangerous; the more you ingest, the more risk you are taking, especially if you mix drugs, which can rapidly lead to a serious medical emergency. Most addicts try to conceal their addiction and they can manage their life, while also maintaining work and other commitments, but eventually, they reach a point where their regular life cannot be maintained. An addict may lose their job, they may split with their partner and possibly be evicted from their rented accommodation. Life tends to spiral out of control and unless the user admits they have a problem, it is very difficult to quit using.

We are all unique

Human beings are unique, there is not another you, and that means a unique solution to your addiction. What works for one might not work for another, try different methods to stop using until you find a method that works for you. Real friends will do what they can to help you and it is essential that you receive the right help. Click here for more information on overcoming addiction.

Treatment for addiction

Many people turn to counsellors, professional people who are trained in helping addicts and some find this very helpful, although if the user hangs around with other users, they tend to slip back into the habit. To quit using, you are advised to change your lifestyle; start with a stay in a top rehab clinic, then when you get home, change your lifestyle, delete fellow users from your life and get fit and healthy.

To summarise, addiction is difficult to manage and the first step is to accept that you have a problem, if you are not honest with yourself, nothing is going to change. Booking into a leading rehab clinic in Thailand is one way to deal with addiction, where a team of experts are ready and willing to help you get your life back on track.
