Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow position to work on a new National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)-funded research programme, led by Professor Jim McCambridge. The programme aims to design and evaluate an intervention that develops the health and well-being role of community pharmacies in relation to alcohol and medication use. The purpose of this post is to lead a range of qualitative studies within the programme.

As a qualitative researcher, with a well-established reputation in health research, you will work closely with senior members of the research team to develop and implement the qualitative components of the programme. These include studies of audio-recorded discussions, patient interviews, stakeholder workshops and a pharmacist cohort study. You will communicate findings to different audiences through written reports, peer-reviewed journal papers, presentations at conferences, and at workshops and other meetings. You will also contribute to, and lead, research grant and other funding applications, and supervise a junior qualitative research fellow.

You will hold a PhD in an area of applied health research or in a relevant social science discipline. You should have expert knowledge of a range of qualitative research techniques and methodologies, including interviewing (individuals and groups), and a broad knowledge of approaches to analysis. You will already have experience of obtaining external funding for research projects. You will have opportunities to write up research findings for publication in high profile journals and engage in public dissemination activities.

This is a fixed term post for five years from 1 January 2018 and the salary is in the range £48,327 – £55,998 a year. The post is full-time and the hours of work are 37 a week.
