We don’t realise how many toxic substances and ideas we encounter on a daily basis. Yet there they are holding us back from being physically and mentally healthy. Thankfully, there are solutions. And if you’re serious about being healthy, you’ll want to take the next steps toward cleansing your mind and body.

How toxins impact the body

Toxins are harmful substances that occur both naturally and synthetically. When they occur naturally, they’re produced within the organism and pose no threat to the organism themselves. They can, however, be harmful to others.

‘Natural toxins are usually produced by organisms as a line of defense. For example, plants may produce toxins to protect themselves against predators like animals, humans, and insects, while other organisms may produce toxins, like mold, to protect them from their surrounding environment,’ hellowater explains. ‘Besides naturally occurring toxins, toxins can also be created synthetically.’

The problem is that our bodies are bombarded by all kinds of toxins on a regular basis. This includes everything from chemicals in cleaning products to excessive sugar in the foods we eat. These toxins enter our body in any number of ways, including from eating, drinking, breathing, and even the skin and hair products we use.

While our bodies have the capacity to fight off many of the toxins we encounter, excessive and prolonged exposure can lead to a host of short- and long-term consequences. This may include a lack of energy, loss of appetite, stress and anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches, depression, shortness of breath, inability to concentrate, insomnia, and any number of other issues. Toxins can also cause cancer, disease, and other serious issues. This pbx detox reviews can also help you decide the right detox supplement for you.

Helpful tips for cleansing

While toxins are bad news, there’s at least some silver lining. In most cases, some simple cleansing can remove the toxins and restore proper balance to your mind and body. Here are a few tips:

  • Try a full body detox. Perhaps you’ve heard of full-body detoxes? These are specific, short-term diets where you attempt to reduce and flush toxins out of your system using a combination of fasting, healthy eating, hydration, and other methods like hydrotherapy and sauna treatments. While you should always vet a full body detox plan before doing it, this can be a great way to get your body back on track.
  • Do away with the alcohol. Did you know that more than 90% of alcohol is metabolised by your liver? Or that your liver enzymes metabolize alcohol and turn it into acetaldehyde (which is known to cause cancer)? Research shows that excessive drinking damages liver function and causes fat buildup, scarring, and inflammation. This prevents your liver from being able to perform its natural filtering functions – leading to toxin buildup in your body. I’m not saying you can’t ever drink – but it shouldn’t be a daily habit. If the goal is to detox, limit yourself to a single drink once or twice a week.
  • Add the right supplements. In addition to avoiding certain foods and dietary habits, you can also add certain elements to further cleanse your body. For example, try adding liposomal glutathione to your diet. Glutathione is known as the body’s ‘master detoxifier’ and a liposomal glutathione dietary supplement can help with detoxification, immunity, and healthy ageing.
  • Meditate daily. Daily meditation can dramatically improve your focus, concentration, and emotional balance. We recommend integrating meditation into your morning and evening routines. This will help you clear your mind and focus on the things that are most important and life-giving. Here’s a simple guide for effective meditation.
  • Scrape your tongue. Your oral cavity is one of the primary gateways to the body and mind, which is why it’s so important to keep harmful germs and bacteria out of your mouth. According to the ancient science of Ayurvedic medicine, tongue scraping is one of the best things you can do for your oral health. Unfortunately, it’s not something most Americans are taught to do. For best results, purchase a basic tongue scraper and use it daily (in addition to brushing and flossing). This removes unwanted bacteria, freshens your breath, and sets you up for success.

Putting it all together

Cleansing your mind and body often requires several steps. (It’s not something you can just snap your fingers and do.) But if you’re willing to put in the work to rid your body of harmful toxins, you can enjoy better mental clarity and physical health. Here’s to a brand new you.
