5 Tips for Cleansing Your Mind and Body

We don’t realise how many toxic substances and ideas we encounter on a daily basis. Yet there they are holding us back from being physically and mentally healthy. Thankfully, there are solutions. How toxins impact the body

Toxins are harmful substances that occur both naturally and synthetically. When they occur naturally, they’re produced within the organism and pose no threat to the organism themselves. They can, however, be harmful to others.

‘Natural toxins are usually produced by organisms as a line of defense. While our bodies have the capacity to fight off many of the toxins we encounter, excessive and prolonged exposure can lead to a host of short- and long-term consequences. Helpful tips for cleansing

While toxins are bad news, there’s at least some silver lining. In most cases, some simple cleansing can remove the toxins and restore proper balance to your mind and body. Here are a few tips:

  • Try a full body detox. Perhaps you’ve heard of full-body detoxes? These are specific, short-term diets where you attempt to reduce and flush toxins out of your system using a combination of fasting, healthy eating, hydration, and other methods like hydrotherapy and sauna treatments. While you should always vet a full body detox plan before doing it, this can be a great way to get your body back on track.
  • Do away with the alcohol. Did you know that more than 90% of alcohol is metabolised by your liver? Or that your liver enzymes metabolize alcohol and turn it into acetaldehyde (which is known to cause cancer)? Research shows that excessive drinking damages liver function and causes fat buildup, scarring, and inflammation. This prevents your liver from being able to perform its natural filtering functions – leading to toxin buildup in your body. I’m not saying you can’t ever drink – but it shouldn’t be a daily habit. If the goal is to detox, limit yourself to a single drink once or twice a week.
  • Add the right supplements. In addition to avoiding certain foods and dietary habits, you can also add certain elements to further cleanse your body. For example, try adding liposomal glutathione to your diet.
