Christmas is a day meant for spending quality time with your loved ones, opening presents and singing carols, and not being consumed in the kitchen wondering how you’ll cook a dinner for 10.
A new survey conducted by online butchers, Campbells Meat, found that two-thirds of Brits (66%) spend over two hours cooking Christmas dinner, with the average time spent cooking being 2.7 hours.
However, there’s no need to spend that much time away from your family and friends or chilling out on the sofa, as Campbells Meat has given you the gift of time with their Christmas dinner calculator that could save you almost two hours.
Stevie Cheape, Head Chef at Campbells Meat, said: “Cooking for your family and friends on Christmas Day can be quite stressful. With lots of moving parts, the dedicated chef for the day can end up spending a lot of time in the kitchen and not around the tree.
“We have created a Christmas dinner calculator that will help families save time in the kitchen. Simply input your chosen Christmas meat, vegetables, and sides, select your serving time, and watch the calculator create your step-by-step timing chart.
“The Christmas timing guide states it should only take up to 1.5 hours to prepare and cook your Christmas dinner after you’ve let your meat cook for a set amount of time. So, you can place your meat in the oven and come back to finish the rest later.”
How the Christmas Dinner Calculator works
- Select your Christmas dinner meat: turkey, turkey crown, chicken, pork, beef, or lamb.
- Select your vegetables and sides: roast potatoes, roast parsnips, arrots, swede (mashed), sprouts, broccoli, peas, pigs in blankets, stuffing, or gravy.
- Select your serving time.
- Follow your step-by-step guide to cooking your Christmas dinner.
Spend more time with your loved ones this Christmas and choose the Campbells Meat timing chart as your Christmas Day hack. You can also save time shopping by pre-ordering your Christmas meat and fish, as well as starters and sides, online, with delivery straight to your door.
