Police officers often respond to incidents that do not involve crime or immediate threats to public safety but instead deal with community members facing unmet mental health needs.

The words ‘mental health crisis’ is used a lot. Our children and young people are struggling. Over half of all mental health disorders start before age 14.

The World Health Organization (WHO) released a statement in 2019 stating that we are currently experiencing an ongoing mental health crisis.
