Study Reveals the Top 10 Cities for Introverts in the UK

With 2 in 5 people across the world describing themselves as introverts, Solopress has conducted a comprehensive study to identify the best UK cities for introverts, looking at metrics such as population density, cost and speed of wifi, average salary, quality of greens and parks, noise and light pollution, things to do in each city, and the number of remote jobs available.

The top 10 UK cities for introverts 

Edinburgh comfortably ranks first, offering a high average salary of £2,416.50 per month, the fastest wifi of all cities analysed (135.5 mbps), as well as a high score for its quality of green space and parks (80 out of 100). 

Milton Keynes and Swansea both rank highly due to their less dense populations of 930 and 632, respectively. Preston is notable for having the lowest score for noise and light pollution, at just 12.5 out of 100.

In third place, London offers the highest average wage of £3,168.76 a month, as well as having the most things for people to do, offering 332 registered activities across the city. 

Cardiff secures the fifth spot, boasting the most remote jobs available in the UK, offering 3,218 roles per 10,000 people. The Welsh capital also has the cheapest wifi of all cities, for just £25.22 a month.

The 10 worst UK cities for introverts 

Luton ranks as the worst UK city for introverts,  with the highest population density of all UK cities (5,196) and slower than average wifi speeds (52.9 mbps). The city also only offers three registered activities to do across the city. 

Leicester ranks second due to its high population density of 5,027 as well as being the third most expensive wifi (£32.80) of the cities analysed. It is also home to higher-than-average noise and light pollution (47 out of 100) and one of the lowest average monthly salaries, offering £2,008.59 per month.

Sunderland stands out by having the most expensive wifi (£36.25) combined with the lowest average wage, offering workers £1,500 per month. The West Midlands consistently appear to provide the poorest quality of green spaces, as Wolverhampton, Stoke-On-Trent and Coventry all share a ranking of just 50 out of 100. 

Wolverhampton stands out due to having the highest noise and light pollution in the UK (75 out of 100). Birmingham ranks low due to its high population density of 4,275, combined with as few as eight remote jobs available per 10,000 people.
