Stephen Marks Announces Men’s Urban Day Retreat

Stephen Marks has announced his inaugural Men’s Urban Day Retreat, which will take place on Sunday, 09 September 2018 at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, London.

Attendees will benefit from a variety of yoga classes and guided meditation with other highlights including a gong bath and massage treatments.

Stephen has been practising yoga for over 20 years and trained in Costa Rica at the Punta Mona eco-resort with the Shamanic School of Yoga. It was only recently however that he left his job as a partner in a city-based property law firm to focus on teaching full-time.

As well as being a thought leader at the Global Wellness Institute and the founder of Mind Body Building, Stephen is trained in yoga nidra which is a form of sleep meditation or deep relaxation. He says: ‘I have been incredibly lucky to have studied with the leading modern scholars and practitioners of Nidra at the Yoga Nidra Network – Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli and I’m truly excited to introduce this stress busting meditation to a wider audience.

‘In today’s world there is this dangerous obsession with being busy – as if we are always playing catch up. The result of this is we are unable to participate properly in anything we do, be it a conversation or even say a friendship. My meditations help you take a step back and relax from all this overactivity and the endless spinning of thoughts that make up the moments we call our life.’

Stephen will be joined by a number of special guests on the day, including fellow yoga instructor Chris James and the team from Health is Wealth, Alexandra Neilan and Chloe Cunningham, who will talk all things nutrition.

Health Is Wealth have been featured a number of times in national press helping to increase awareness of Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine in the UK.

Alexandra says: ‘Synergy between a healthy body and a healthy mind is the foundation for success. Today, the combined aspects of modern living all contribute to ill health; long sedentary office hours, stress and dietary misinformation have created a society in which chronic complaints are prevalent and fatigue, digestive complaints and depression are daily irritants. Your health needs to be a resource and not an objective so that you can focus on your goals.’
