What began as a passion project during the academic pursuits of Dennis Relojo-Howell has blossomed into a thriving online community dedicated to psychology and wellness. This year, Psychreg celebrates its 10th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey to make psychological insights accessible to all.

The seeds of Psychreg were planted in 2014 when Dennis, then an MSc student in psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, launched “The Psychology Registry” website. Initially housed at psychreg.com, the site quickly found a new home at psychreg.org, signalling the first steps towards a broader vision. Early snapshots on the Wayback Machine offer a glimpse into these formative years.

It wasn’t until 2016 that Psychreg truly found its voice. The publication of Dennis’s first article and the site’s initial guest post in June of that year set the tone for the diverse and insightful content that would follow. Later that year, a rebranding effort complete with a new URL, the tagline “Let’s talk about behaviour,” and an official logo solidified Psychreg’s growing identity.

2017 proved pivotal, with Psychreg earning recognition at the UK Blog Awards and the launch of the Psychreg Journal of Psychology, expanding its reach into scholarly realms. The following year brought further accolades at the UK Blog Awards and the successful hosting of the ICPCE 2018 conference in the Philippines, underscoring Psychreg’s increasingly global impact.

Embracing multimedia platforms, Psychreg introduced the Psychreg Podcast in 2017 and The DRH Show in 2019, diversifying its engagement with audiences and exploring new facets of psychology.

In its decade-long journey, Psychreg has covered a vast array of topics within the realms of psychology and mental health. From exploring the intricacies of human behaviour and the workings of the mind to delving into mental health issues, self-care practices, and the latest research, the platform has become a comprehensive resource. Its articles, podcasts, and multimedia content have shed light on diverse perspectives, providing valuable insights to both professionals and the general public alike. Psychreg’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of the human psyche has earned it a loyal following and cemented its reputation as a go-to destination for those seeking knowledge and empowerment in their pursuit of overall well-being.

“As we celebrate Psychreg’s tenth anniversary, it’s a moment to reflect on our journey and the incredible experiences we’ve had,” remarks managing director Dennis Relojo-Howell. “From a small blog to a platform that connects people worldwide, our goal has always been to make psychology accessible to everyone. We’re proud of the community we’ve built and are excited about the future as we continue to evolve and contribute to the field of mental health and well-being.”

A decade on, Psychreg stands as a testament to the power of passion and dedication in the digital age. What started as a solitary pursuit has blossomed into a vibrant community, fostering learning, sharing, and growth. With deep roots and lofty aspirations, Psychreg looks ahead to a future filled with further innovation and an unwavering commitment to psychological well-being.

“Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey Psychreg has been on,” reflects Dennis. “What began as a personal endeavour has grown into a global platform that’s impacting lives in ways I never could have imagined. The connections we’ve fostered, the knowledge we’ve shared, and the communities we’ve built – it’s been an incredible privilege to be a part of this movement towards greater psychological understanding and well-being.”
