As a man, your body contains testosterone and other hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, and nearly fifty more hormones. Since your body’s hormones need to stay in perfect balance to feel your best physically and mentally, even a slight imbalance can lead to many problems that will make you feel tired, depressed and have little if any desire for sex with your partner. Along with these issues, here are some other profound effects your hormones have on your daily life.

Maintaining your sex drive

If you’re like most of your guy friends, you want to have a strong sex drive throughout your life. Yet when your testosterone gets too low, this can lead to a reduced sex drive that can quickly diminish your quality of life inside your bedroom. Along with not having a desire for sex, having low testosterone may also result in erectile dysfunction, making it harder for you to get an erection or maintain the erection throughout a sexual encounter.

Gaining weight and losing muscle

When your hormones are out of balance, it is almost certain you will start to gain weight and lose muscle, even if you try to exercise regularly and eat a sensible diet. If you start to notice this when looking in the mirror, there are some things you can do to get your hormones back on track, such as:

  • Get more sleep
  • Reduce your stress
  • Check your medications

If you have used an at home male hormone test and get results indicating low testosterone, you might want to talk to your doctor about any prescription meds you may be taking. In some cases, the side effects of certain medications may contribute to you having low testosterone.

Serious health conditions

Since it takes plenty of work to keep those 50 or so hormones in your body in balance with one another, experiencing hormonal imbalances for a prolonged period could result in you developing various serious health conditions that could impact your quality of life for years to come.

For example, suppose you become too passive and get less and less physical activity on a regular basis. In that case, your hormonal imbalance may lead to insulin resistance, increasing your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. It’s also possible that if you fail to manage your stress level, the increase in stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol may negatively impact your heart, leading to cardiovascular disease.

Prevent overeating

If you want to keep your weight down, you should avoid overeating. Unfortunately, hormones that are not properly balanced will lead to you eating more than you should day after day. In information gathered from a study in 2013, overeating that is done even on a short-term basis will lead to more fat cells circulating throughout your body. The longer this goes on, the more likely you will develop insulin resistance and, ultimately, diabetes, which could damage your heart, eyes, kidneys, and more.

Improve your mood

Paying attention to your hormone levels will help keep you in a good mood. Should your testosterone get low and stay low, your mood will become more negative. As this happens, you’ll also begin to notice problems with concentration and memory, leaving you frustrated and looking for answers.

It can easily happen if you are under a high level of stress since having too much on your mind always makes concentration more difficult. Along with ensuring your hormones are properly balanced, you should also find ways to reduce your stress, such as listening to some favorite tunes, enjoying a hobby, or taking a pleasant walk in a nearby park.

Bottom line

Now that you realise testosterone and other hormones can profoundly affect your mental and physical well-being in many ways, don’t hesitate to take the results you get from an at-home hormone test and compare them with tests done by your doctor. By working together, you can be a dynamic duo regarding your hormones.
