Priory, the UK’s largest independent provider of mental health, addiction, and adult social care services, has launched The Residence, a new recovery programme at Priory Hospital Roehampton in South West London. Framed as a sanctuary where clinical excellence meets luxury, the bespoke service offers one-client-at-a-time care in a private suite near Richmond Park. It is tailored to individuals facing complex challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and substance dependency.
The Residence consists of a 1,200-square-foot self-contained suite featuring a master bedroom, companion room, therapy areas, and luxury amenities. This environment ensures total privacy, comfort, and calm, helping clients focus on recovery without external distractions. It is the first apartment-style service of its kind developed by Priory.
According to NHS data, around 1 in 4 adults in England experiences a diagnosable mental health condition each year. The growing demand for high-quality, specialist services prompted this initiative, which integrates psychiatric expertise, psychological care, and holistic therapies supported by advanced technology.
Consultant psychiatrist and lead clinician Dr Donald Masi said: “Exceptional support begins with genuine understanding. Every person who comes to us arrives with a unique set of experiences, challenges, and strengths, requiring support which is truly personal and clinically precise. The Residence is designed to be more than a treatment setting. It’s a space of safety and hope, where our clients can focus entirely on their well-being, free from outside pressure, supported by world-class professionals.”
The programme includes access to handpicked therapists and consultants, alongside advanced treatment options such as virtual reality therapy, neuromodulation, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, trauma-focused interventions, and relapse prevention. Complementary holistic therapies include yoga, reflexology, massage, and mindfulness, promoting mind-body recovery. Clients may also choose from lifestyle-based activities such as personal training, equine therapy, art classes, and nutritional advice. These services are supported by personalised dining prepared by an in-house chef and coordinated travel support for clients arriving from the UK or abroad.
Hospital director Alexandra Squire-Morrow said: “The Residence will be the UK’s most exclusive and personalised mental health and recovery experience. A patient’s journey also continues well after a patient leaves our care, with a bespoke plan that may include outpatient therapy, remote support, wellness check-ins, and family involvement, ensuring long-term recovery is both sustainable and supported. We also pride ourselves on ‘precision recovery’, which means every detail is adapted for the individual, creating a truly elevated and effective therapeutic experience.”
She added: “Roehampton has been Priory’s flagship hospital since 1980, and so, for the past 45 years has been delivering world-leading care and recovery programmes for patients with a range of mental health issues. Some patients require greater privacy in their recovery, so we’re delighted to open this new, spacious therapeutic environment.”
