Rev. Dr Phillip Fleming is a New York State Certified Peer Specialist (provisional) and a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate with more than 17 years of experience in peer support. He is dedicated to promoting peer support values and principles and to empowering peers to lead self-directed lives.
Dr Fleming serves as chief executive officer of Bronx River Road Licensed Clinical Social Work, and is also employed by the Geneva, New York, City School District as a substitute teacher and teacher aide. He holds a Teaching Assistant certification from the New York State Education Department.
He actively volunteers at Fountain House, the New York Association of Black Psychologists, and is an ordained minister with Universal Life Church Ministries. His education includes studies at Berea College, Columbus State Community College, The Ohio State University, PESI, and the Harlem Family Institute. He is a candidate in the Bachelor of Science Pathway to Teaching programme at Roberts Wesleyan University, where he will pursue dual certification in Adolescent Social Studies and Special Education.
Outside his professional life, Dr Fleming lives in Geneva, New York, with his boyfriend. He enjoys music, writing, watching his favourite television shows and films, comedy, and playing video games. He also collects antiques such as TV Guide magazines, Matchbox cars, Black Panther memorabilia, Billboard magazines, and radio station jingles and airchecks.
