Emily Campbell, the Team GB weightlifting star, and Paul Corrigan, the Government’s key health adviser, have been announced as headline speakers for Active Uprising 2025, the flagship conference hosted by ukactive.

The event, taking place at the QEII Centre in Westminster on Thursday 6th March, will bring together leaders from health, fitness, politics, business, and sport under the theme: “No Growth Without Health: Physical Activity’s Role in National Renewal.”

Campbell, who became the first British woman to win an Olympic weightlifting medal with her silver at Tokyo 2020, is set to discuss her personal journey and ambitions for promoting health and fitness nationwide. Following her participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she has remained a strong advocate for National Fitness Day and will use the platform to highlight the importance of physical activity in everyday life.

“I’m excited to be speaking at Active Uprising this year, and I’m really looking forward to talking about my own journey,” Campbell said. “Most importantly, I want to use my platform to reach even more people and showcase the value that physical activity and strength training can bring to their lives. I’m a huge believer in the power of physical activity to improve health and opportunities for people of all ages, and it’s such an important challenge for our nation to take on.”

Alongside Campbell, Paul Corrigan will provide insights into the Government’s vision for the nation’s health. As the appointed strategic adviser to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, Corrigan has been instrumental in shaping the Government’s 10-year plan for the NHS since his appointment in July. At the conference, he will join ukactive Chair Mike Farrar, former CEO of the NHS Confederation, for a discussion on the future of healthcare, the challenges of policy implementation, and the role of the physical activity sector in national health improvement.

Huw Edwards, CEO of ukactive, welcomed the announcement: “We are delighted to announce that Emily and Paul will speak at Active Uprising, which promises to set the direction for the future of our nation’s health, well-being, and economic growth. Emily and Paul bring unrivalled insight from their respective worlds, but with the shared ambition to improve the health and happiness of our population. This year’s conference promises to deliver incredible learning and networking opportunities that will be hugely valuable for organisations across our sector.”

The full programme for Active Uprising 2025 will feature additional keynote speakers, including Claire Rollins, Group Director for software; Iain Pringle, Loyalty Consultant and Managing Partner at New World Loyalty; and Mark Shayler, an Innovation and Environmental Adviser.

The morning panel discussions will explore key issues such as “NHS Integration: From Hospital to Community” and “How Can the Physical Activity Sector Help Address Poor Health and Economic Growth?” The afternoon sessions will include “A Generation of Anxious Young People: Physical Activity as a Prevention Solution” and “In the Business of Health: Powering Up Partnerships Between the Physical Activity Sector and Wider Business.”

As the UK grapples with increasing concerns over public health and NHS sustainability, Active Uprising 2025 aims to provide a platform for collaboration and innovation, helping shape a future where physical activity plays a central role in improving lives.
