Yoga travel has grown in popularity over the past year, with searches for Yoga Holidays up 376% in the last 12 months and the hashtag #yogatrip being used 127K times on Instagram.

In light of this, travel experts at Planet Cruise have compiled the top 10 most Instagrammable yoga destinations from around the world based on the number of Instagram hashtags.

Some of the most Instagram-worthy yoga locations include Cornwall in England, three destinations in India and Ibiza in Spain to name a few.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is one of the most popular yoga destinations in the world. If you stay in Ubud, you must go to the infamous Yoga Barn located among rice fields and overlooking the gorgeous Balinese mountains.

Kerala, India

Imagine waking up for a sun salutation on the cliffs looking out over the Arabian Sea, then spending the rest of the day catching the swell breaking onto the shore – or trying both at the same time.

Morocco, North Africa

All the yoga destinations of Morocco are great for getting to know the country and its culture, so your retreat will be about much more than yoga in the end.

Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is famous all around the world for the parties and music on its beautiful beaches. However, this island is part of Spain and an ideal place to practice yoga as well

Lisbon, Portugal

You needn’t forgo your daily asanas while visiting Lisbon – the city is a great spot to meet other yogis and work out in some beautiful locations, including by the river and in a few of the local parks.

Cornwall, England

Experience a tranquil corner of England. Cornwall may not be the first that comes to mind for a yoga retreat, but it is surely an ideal one!

Himalayas, India

Ananda in the Himalayas offers a breadth of programs, with a pilgrimage to the spa seeing you living in the Viceregal Palace of the Maharaja of Tehi Garhwal and sipping Darjeeling high in the mountains

Algarve, Portugal

One of the first-ever yoga retreats in Europe, Quinta Da Calma is now easily considered to be one of the best in the world. Located a short drive from the beautiful beaches of the Algarve, it offers the opportunity to disconnect completely from modern life.

Mysore, India

Famed for being the birthplace of ashtanga, the historic city of Mysore is the perfect location to learn and practise this fairly dynamic form of yoga.

The Amalfi coast, Italy

The Amalfi coast is not only a haven for exploring delicious food or enjoying water sports all day long but also a favourite destination for yogis worldwide.

A spokesperson from Planet Cruise commented on the findings: “If you have a keen interest in yoga and finding your inner zen then one of these destinations may be for you. It’s important to unwind and unplug when on holiday and any of these locations would be perfect to do so.”
