Pushing yourself too hard will backfire, no matter how resilient someone is. So instead, start with making a plan with realistic goals. You can do that by going through a handful of chapters per day. The reward of completing them will provide a much-needed rewarding experience.

While this may not seem enough initially, going through them will help comprehend the context and all the important details. Then, when you build a proper foundation for the knowledge that comes later, the whole studying process will become more straightforward.

Take frequent breaks

Taking breaks from studying is essential for students. However, that doesn’t mean students should take it too easy. Instead, we are talking about taking short breaks that will help take your mind off the subject. These do not need to last for more than 10 or 15 minutes. 

Our brain requires a little fresh air occasionally, and that’s what you should provide it with. Frequent breaks are crucial, especially when you have planned a long session that particular day. 

This method becomes even more important if you are about to study during the night, which is common during finals week. The pressure can build up quickly, and you must know how to manage it. Short, frequent breaks will certainly help with that part.


Lastly, we want to address the importance of exercising. Exercise is a great stress reliever, and it is by far the commonest option for many students. There are many options to choose from. These days, their number is exceptionally high, especially if you include practices such as yoga or callisthenics in the array. 

There is a scientific explanation for feeling positive after exercise. The human brain becomes much more sensitive to norepinephrine and serotonin during and after exercise. Besides that, exercise greatly boosts the endorphin levels in the human body. 

If you already experience some anxiety, this is also a great way to relieve stress levels. You should perceive exercising as a great combination of improving mental and physical health. Besides basic fitness or strength training, students often opt for practising recreational sports.

Of course, picking the discipline relies solely on an individual’s needs and preferences. Gathering teams of fellow students will also create a bond between them, which can result in them helping each other during their studies.
