Magnesium has emerged as the most searched for supplement in the US, according to a study analysing nationwide Google search data.
The mineral recorded an average of 527,843 monthly searches, placing it well ahead of all other supplements. The findings come from a wellness study conducted by dietary supplement brand NYO3, which examined search behaviour across the country.
Vitamin D ranked second with 358,543 monthly searches. Often referred to as “the sunshine vitamin”, it is widely associated with bone strength and immune support, particularly among people living in northern states.
Dietary fibre followed closely in third place with 338,121 monthly searches, sitting just 5% behind Vitamin D. Iron ranked fourth with 330,993 searches, reflecting continued interest in a mineral commonly deficient in many diets, especially among women.
Ashwagandha placed fifth with 324,383 monthly searches. The Ayurvedic herb is increasingly sought out for issues linked to stress and sleep. Potassium ranked sixth with 244,616 searches, despite being readily available through foods such as bananas and potatoes.
Protein supplements came seventh with 228,240 monthly searches, driven largely by fitness focused consumers. Zinc followed in eighth place with 194,693 searches, while creatine ranked ninth with 187,706 searches. Omega 3 supplements completed the top ten with 182,124 monthly searches.

A spokesperson from NYO3 said the findings reflect a broader shift in how Americans approach their health.
“These results highlight the growing interest in supplements like magnesium that support multiple body functions. Many Americans are taking a more proactive approach to their health, researching supplements that address common concerns like sleep quality, stress management, and energy levels.
“The consistent popularity of magnesium across all states is noteworthy. This essential mineral plays a role in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body, yet many Americans may not get enough through diet alone. The high search volume suggests growing awareness of its importance for overall health.”
