If you have suffered trauma, you may be eligible for compensation. There are a number of ways to know if you can get it. There are multiple reasons that would make you eligible for such a thing all depending on how severe the consequences might be. Follow this article to learn when you can expect compensation after suffering a traumatic experience.

If you suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health condition that is triggered by trauma. Trauma can come in many forms, but it is often experienced as a result of violence or witnessing something that’s disturbing to the person being exposed to trauma, such as an accident or natural disaster. Having PTSD means you are suffering from trauma now and likely for some time into the future without treatment.

If your doctor diagnoses you with PTSD, they will provide documentation, so there should be no questions about whether or not this diagnosis qualifies for compensation after a traumatic experience. You do have to show evidence of experiencing trauma before receiving money through claims made against another party’s insurance company, even if they were found guilty of causing harm on their own accord. Your claim can be denied because you do not have a PTSD diagnosis.

Once you do gather evidence it’s most likely that you will get compensated for damages. With everything on paper, PTSD lawyers can make your claim become payable in no time. However, remember that your diagnosis should not be forged under any circumstances, but it should rather all be legitimate because otherwise, you may end up in prison.

If you get traumatic brain injury (TBI)

A traumatic brain injury is when trauma to the brain causes damage. TBI is also called acquired brain injury (ABI) and it can result from a car accident, assault, or other trauma that leaves you unconscious for at least five minutes or with memory loss after the incident.

If you get a traumatic brain injury, compensation may be available depending on your situation. It’s important to work with an attorney who understands how trauma affects victims because this will affect how much compensation they are eligible to receive. If you have been injured as a result of the trauma, and you are still suffering from its effects now. In other words, your injury has not resolved itself yet even if there were no visible signs of an injury after the trauma occurred (e.g., broken bones).
