Klosterhof Unveils a Stunning Redesign of Artemacur Spa, Blending Elegance with Tranquillity

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The award-winning Artemacur Spa at Klosterhof – Alpine Hideaway & Spa has unveiled a fresh and stylish makeover, enhancing its reputation as a premier wellness destination. In a swift four-day transformation, the Klosterhof team, led by technical director Bernhard Geutner and collaborating with regional partners, revitalised the spa’s interior to create an atmosphere of timeless elegance and comfort. Since 24 January 2025, guests have been invited to experience this harmonious blend of design, art, and relaxation.

The recent redesign of the Artemacur Spa introduces a renewed sense of space, featuring light woods, soft colours, and thoughtfully curated artwork that seamlessly integrates into the spa’s overall concept. These elements not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also inspire reflection and contemplation among guests. Newly created retreat areas offer intimate spaces for relaxation, whether for quiet moments alone or shared experiences. Situated on the ground floor, the spa’s expansive panoramic windows provide abundant natural light and picturesque views of the surrounding nature, fostering a sustainable and holistic relaxation experience.

Highlights of the spa transformation

  • Timeless design. The renovation preserves Klosterhof’s distinctive character, continuing its philosophy with a focus on enduring elegance.
  • Exclusive pool cabanas. Equipped with curtains for privacy and ambient lighting, these cabanas offer an ideal setting for serene solitude or uninterrupted companionship.
  • Redesigned relaxation room in the sauna area. Refurbished furniture seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary comfort, providing a lasting sense of tranquillity.
  • Art as inspiration. A captivating jute installation by artist Wolfgang Gerner, symbolising the “Rainbow Path,” floats above the pool, inviting guests on a meditative journey through the spectrum of life.

Art and philosophy at Klosterhof

Artistic expression is integral to the Klosterhof experience, with Wolfgang Gerner’s creations playing a pivotal role throughout the establishment. From art steles in guest rooms to the Celtic triskelion in the hotel’s logo, Gerner’s work intertwines local cultural elements with universal themes. The new art installation in the Artemacur Spa continues this tradition, offering an inspiring environment that encourages relaxation and introspection.

Regional expertise, sustainable execution, and teamwork

The spa’s transformation was achieved in collaboration with master craftsmen Philipp Haas + Söhne from Bad Reichenhall, who also contributed to the hotel’s construction in 2016. Emphasising quality, regionality, and sustainability, the project utilised materials that reflect Klosterhof’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The result is bespoke furniture, such as the new cabanas, that provide comfort while embodying the hotel’s sustainable ethos.

Technical director Bernhard Geutner praised the in-house technical team for their dedication under tight deadlines. “We laid tiles, did the cleaning ourselves, siliconised, and much more,” Geutner explained. “We started planning half a year, three-quarters of a year, and more in advance because we knew we wanted to do the ceiling. And if we’re going to do the ceiling, we might as well do a redesign.”

Despite challenges such as a shortage of skilled labour and supply chain issues, the team remained resolute. Geutner noted, “It’s a problem that occurs everywhere, and our partners are no exception: they have fewer and fewer employees, but they have to do more and more work.” He also highlighted the difficulty of renovating public areas without disrupting guests, stating, “Some of our guests book up to a year in advance. That means we had to look at where we would minimise the number of guests we have to turn away and when we can get the labour.”

Time management challenge

The comprehensive renovation extended beyond the spa to include guest rooms and public areas, all accomplished within a four-day window. Geutner commended the team’s exceptional effort, noting that they averaged 22 hours of overtime during the project. “The team was sensational,” he remarked. “All our colleagues were always there; everyone pulled together.”

Reflecting on the project, Geutner expressed pride in the collective achievement. As an electrical engineer by training, he took particular satisfaction in installing the new cabana lighting but emphasised the importance of the overall outcome. “Your mind is always on the next task, to be honest,” he said with a laugh. “Of course you enjoy it, and you’re happy that your colleagues who are working there enjoy it. And it’s cool that when you walk through, you can smell the wood, and when you look in the pool, the water is so clear.”

One standout moment for Geutner was ensuring the pool’s cleanliness after refilling. “When the pool was refilled the following week and the health department sample came back clean, that’s when I’m happiest. That means we’ve done everything right,” he explained.

With the revitalisation of the Artemacur Spa, Klosterhof reaffirms its dedication to providing a sanctuary of inspiration and enduring relaxation, achieved through meticulous planning, sustainable practices, and unwavering teamwork.
