There is no picking or choosing at what hour of the day you fall ill or injure yourself and require medical care; these things can happen during any part of the day, which is why it is so important to be able to access medical care around the clock. Unfortunately, though, many doctor’s offices are only open during daylight hours, which means that if you require medical care late at night, your options are very much limited. Because it is important that patients have 24-hour access to medical care, more and more doctor’s offices are turning to services. This way, if patients need medical care in the middle of the night, they have someone to turn to; more specifically, someone to call and get help from.

Some of the benefits that doctor’s offices can experience from using a service like this where their patients are provided with around-the-clock medical care include the following things.

Reduced waiting times

With patients being able to get medical care whenever they need it, e.g. in the middle of the night, it means that fewer people need to visit the doctor’s office during opening hours, thus having a direct result on the waiting times there; they go down. Additionally, with patients using telephone services out of hours, it means that doctors are not as stretched and so can commit more time to each and every patient that they do see during the day time. Typically, when accessing medical care during the early hours, there are fewer patients and so people get seen much quicker or even straight away. This is particularly beneficial for those patients who are in pain or anxious about a symptom they have.

Improved patient care

Despite the 24-hour service being provided over the telephone, this does not take away from the quality of service provided. In fact, in a lot of cases, the service provided by the doctors and medical professionals there is even better and more thorough than what you would get in person. The main reason for that is because they have much more time, due to there being less demand, to go through things with each and every patient, really getting to know them and their medical issues in the process.

Greater convenience of access

Medical issues do not always occur during typical doctor office opening hours; illness and injury can occur at any time and anywhere. Having access to medical care around the clock provides a much more convenient experience for patients. It also enables them to get seen and treated much quicker, thus preventing things from progressing and getting worse. 24-hour telephone services can be accessed from anywhere and at any time providing that you have a telephone signal. This is of course not true for a conventional doctor’s office which may not always be centrally located or always open when needed.
