Like most people, you probably think of olive oil as a healthy cooking oil. But what are the actual health benefits of olive oil? It turns out it’s pretty impressive.  You can enjoy the benefits of drinking olive oil in the morning by adding it to your food.

Here are some of the critical health benefits of olive oil:

Rich in antioxidants

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants, compounds that help protect the body against damage from free radicals. Free radicals are a type of unstable molecules that can cause cell damage, and they have been linked to several chronic diseases. Many studies have shown that antioxidants can help to reduce the risk of several conditions, including heart disease, cancer, etc.

Rich in monounsaturated fats

Unlike other edible and cooking oils, olive oil has lots of monounsaturated fats, which have been shown to improve cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Monounsaturated fats can also help improve blood sugar control, and they may even aid in weight loss.

An excellent source of vitamins

Olive oil is a great source of vitamins E and K. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect cells from damage, and it has been linked to a reduced risk of cancer and heart disease. Vitamin K is vital for clotting blood and bone health, and it has been shown to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Prevents strokes

Olive oil has been shown to help prevent strokes. In a large-scale study, those who regularly consumed it are found to have a significantly lower risk of suffering a stroke than those who do not. Olive oil protects against strokes by improving the flexibility of the arteries and promoting healthy blood flow.

Has anti-inflammatory properties

Another prominent advantage of olive oil is its anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that regular consumption of this oil can help reduce inflammation in various parts of the body, including the joints, skin, and even the gut lining. It has been linked to various chronic conditions, such as arthritis and colitis, and more immediate symptoms, such as aches and pains.

Does not cause weight gain

Olive oil is a highly-regarded superfood renowned for its many health benefits. In particular, you now know that it does not cause weight gain in the same way as butter or other high-fat cooking oils. This is because it contains a range of healthy nutrients that help to boost energy levels, balance blood sugar, and promote a lean body composition.

Unlike other cooking oils, loaded with hidden fats and calories, olive oil contains essential fatty acids that decrease fat storage and increase calorie burn. One of the benefits of drinking olive oil in the morning is effective weight loss.

Treats rheumatoid arthritis

It is also known for treating conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Many experts believe that olive oil’s anti-inflammatory properties make it an effective natural treatment for reducing arthritis pain and improving joint function.

Additionally, the polyphenols found in extra-virgin olive oil have been shown to effectively reduce inflammation, further supporting this healthy cooking oil as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.

Promotes brain health

Most people are familiar with the benefits of olive oil for heart health, but did you know that it is also suitable for brain health? Numerous studies have revealed that it can help to improve cognitive function and reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline.

One study even found that older adults who consumed a Mediterranean diet rich in olive oil had a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The exact mechanisms by which olive oil exerts its beneficial effects on brain health are not fully understood, but it is thought to be due to its high content of healthy fats and antioxidants.

As it is pretty clear, there are several physical health benefits of olive oil. If you are looking for healthy cooking oil to improve your overall health, olive oil is a great option.
