After the success of the last four MIX conferences, MIX 2019 returns to the beautiful surroundings of Bath Spa University’s Corsham Court Campus, in Wiltshire, on 1st–2nd July 2019. This year’s conference will be a more intimate, single stream version, curated for a smaller audience to give time and space to instigate conversations around digital writing with a focus on experiential storytelling, including immersive technologies and new forms of publishing, transmedia and poetry film, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, to ethics and storytelling.
Confirmed speakers are Guy Gadney, CEO of To Play For and Charisma.ai, a storytelling platform powered by artificial intelligence; Dr Donna Hancox, transmedia and digital storytelling scholar at Queensland Institute of Technology; Thomas Zandegiocomo Del Bel, Artistic Director Zebra Poetry Film Festival, Berlin; and writer Nikesh Shukla.
There will also be six curated panels of practitioners and academics working at the forefront of experiential storytelling, Throughout the conference, we will be screening a curated collection of poetry films showcasing the latest developments in in poetry film creation from the UK and Germany including work by award winning film-makers Stevie Ronnie, Adele Meyers and Jane Glennie. And on 1st July, during the pre-conference morning, there will be two optional workshops: (1) The Productive (and Happy) Academic Writer with Bec Evans from Prolifiko; and, (2) Short & Drawn Out: Collaborative Augmented Reality Drawing with Kim Plowright, both available at an additional cost.
