Health Call, a unique NHS-owned digital health tech provider, is strengthening its portfolio as a leading local nurse joins the team in an advisory role.
The company began back in 2012 as a spin-out project from County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust (CDDFT) when they recognised the potential to transform patient care and experience with digital technology.
The partnership with local NHS Trusts continues as CDDFT associate director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Information Nurse, Lisa Ward joins the team to provide further clinical advice and support.
Since 2012, the region has benefited from Health Calls’ array of digital solutions, rapidly expanding its portfolio to over 60 digital solutions used by 1.5 million patients.
Lisa joins the growing business at a pivotal time, bringing a wealth of expertise and knowledge from her career spanning 20 years with the NHS. She will support the business by providing a clinical focus on the organisation’s leadership and its services.
With an impressive CV, Lisa Ward is currently Associate Director of Nursing & CNIO at Co Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. It was here she began her career as a nurse in A+E before moving into a digital role in 2016. She is also a Florence Nightingale Digital scholar.
Ward will be joining the team at Health Call on a part-time basis for one day per month. She will provide clinical leadership and insight into how they can improve services to support patient care and safety.
Speaking about her recent appointment, Lisa Ward said: ‘I am thrilled to join Health Call at this exciting time. Digital solutions can make a real impact on the lives of nurses and patients, and our NHS.’
‘Nursing can be very demanding and while nurses usually have ideas as to what could improve both patient care and their role they don’t always know what technology could be utilised to support that; my role as a CNIO is to be that bridge to help nurses articulate what they need. This will allow nurses’, and also AHP’s, value to be heard and play a crucial role in shaping digital solutions.’
Ian Dove, Managing Director at Health Call, said: ‘We are fortunate and very excited to have Lisa on board. Her passion for nursing and digital transformation is evident, and her insight and clinical perspective will be invaluable to us as a digital health provider.’
‘Lisa has already been instrumental in creating some of our top products, including our Digital Care Home solution, which, thanks to Lisa, was developed closely alongside nurses. Having that perspective allowed us to create an award-winning solution that is, most importantly, fit for purpose for those who will be using it. We look forward to collaborating on many more projects with patients and clinicians in mind.’
