The West Wales premiere of the multi-award-winning musical Come From Away opens at the Boulevard Theatre in Milford Haven from Thursday 24th July to Saturday 26th July 2025, bringing a heartfelt story of compassion and community to Pembrokeshire. Presented by Vision Theatre Company, this production recounts the true events following the 9/11 attacks, when 7,000 air passengers were stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, and welcomed by locals with extraordinary generosity.
The musical, which has captivated audiences globally, explores the resilience and unity that emerged in the wake of tragedy. It tells the remarkable story of 38 planes diverted to Gander’s airstrip on 11 September 2001, nearly doubling the town’s population of 10,000. The production highlights real-life characters, including the first female American Airlines captain, a quick-thinking mayor, a mother of a New York firefighter, and a local news reporter, as they navigate crisis and forge lasting bonds.
Vision Arts Wales, under the leadership of creative director Drew Baker, is behind this ambitious staging. “We’re incredibly proud to bring this beautiful story to our community,” says Baker. “It’s a show about compassion in the face of crisis – something we all need reminding of. The cast have worked incredibly hard to bring this story to life, and we can’t wait to share it.” The production features a dynamic ensemble cast, a live band, and a bespoke soundscape designed to immerse audiences in the emotional journey.
