Christy Osborne is a certified sobriety coach and founder of Love Life Sober, dedicated to empowering women across the UK and the US to regain control over their relationship with alcohol. She is also a co-host of the podcast But Jesus Drank Wine & Other Stories That Kept Us Stuck and is currently working on her debut book, Love Life Sober: Finding Freedom from Alcohol in 40 Days, which Penguin Random House’s Christian imprint plans to release in the middle of 2024.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Christy’s journey began with her studies in political science at the University of Southern California (USC). She later spent a year in London, studying law and policy at the London School of Economics. During her time studying law at Pepperdine University, Christy turned to alcohol as a way to cope with the stresses of her academic life. It was also during this period that she met her husband. After graduation, the couple moved to London, where they both secured jobs in Parliament.

Life in London brought new challenges. After the birth of their daughter, Christy found herself drinking more frequently, using alcohol as a reward for the long, tough days of raising a young child. Following the birth of their second child, Christy struggled with postnatal depression. Feeling isolated and living in a foreign country, she increasingly turned to wine for comfort.

As her children grew older, Christy launched her renowned fashion and lifestyle blog, An American Girl in Chelsea. Her work with high-end consumer brands and her appearance on Sky News to report live from the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought her a new level of recognition. However, in 2018, the death of her mother pushed Christy into a deep depression. She began drinking heavily to numb the pain, which led to tension in her family life. By March 2020, after waking up with a bad hangover on her son’s 8th birthday, which coincided with the second anniversary of her mother’s passing, Christy realised that alcohol was taking more from her life than it was giving.

“I decided to take a break from alcohol and see if I felt better without it. That’s when everything changed,” Christy reflects. Weeks later, the UK entered lockdown due to the pandemic. Christy jokes that it felt like a self-imposed rehab, but the time allowed her to confront her relationship with alcohol seriously.

During the lockdown, Christy immersed herself in research, reading, and listening to podcasts about women who had found joy and peace without alcohol. As she explored her own beliefs about drinking – questioning whether it truly eased stress, made social events more enjoyable, or was essential for romance and connection – she experienced a profound shift. Christy’s desire to drink diminished, and by the end of 2020, she had enrolled in Annie Grace’s This Naked Mind Institute to become a certified coach because she had a newfound passion for assisting other women.

Now, with years of sobriety and two accredited life-coaching certifications, Christy is committed to empowering women to take control of their relationship with alcohol. Through her bespoke 1:1 coaching and intimate group programmes, she uses the This Naked Mind Methodology to explore unconscious beliefs about alcohol and inspire lasting change.

Love Life Sober offers a safe, non-judgmental space for women to navigate their relationship with alcohol through content, coaching, community, and connection. Christy’s 12-week programmes are designed to help women find freedom and reclaim their lives.
