A recent survey by Moneyboat has revealed that a significant number of Brits are choosing to allocate a large portion of their disposable income to self-care and personal well-being. The survey results shed light on a growing trend, showing that many people across the UK are prioritising beauty products, exercise, and other self-care activities.
The findings also highlight notable differences in spending habits based on age and location. Millennials, for example, are leading the charge, prioritising self-care more than any other age group. Londoners, too, are spending heavily on maintaining their well-being, with the capital’s residents allocating a considerable share of their income to self-care.
20% of Brits prioritise beauty products
According to the survey, 20% of Brits are spending most of their disposable income on beauty products. This trend underscores the nation’s increasing passion for self-care and personal grooming. The significant amount of money that many Brits spend on skincare and cosmetics demonstrates how important looking and feeling great is to them.
15% of Brits invest in exercise
The survey also found that 15% of Brits are dedicating the majority of their disposable income to exercise, indicating a strong commitment to health and fitness across the country. This spending pattern reflects a widespread enthusiasm for leading an active lifestyle, with many choosing to invest in gym memberships, fitness classes, and sports equipment. For this 15%, exercise is more than just a routine – it’s a way to stay fit, feel energised, and boost overall well-being.
Londoners lead in self-care spending
Londoners are at the forefront when it comes to self-care spending. The survey revealed that 19% of the capital’s residents allocate most of their disposable income to exercise, while 26% focus on beauty products. This pattern emphasises how important personal appearance and well-being are to London residents, possibly as a result of the city’s vibrant social scene and the demands of modern city life on both the individual and professional levels.
Millennials are the biggest self-care enthusiasts
Millennials are emerging as the biggest advocates for self-care, with 50% prioritising it more than any other generation. Among 25- to 34-year-olds, 22% are channelling the majority of their disposable income towards exercise, demonstrating a strong commitment to physical fitness and overall well-being.
