Last Sunday, 4th May 2025, the rolling hills of the Kent Downs in Harrietsham, Kent, came alive with community spirit as hundreds of walkers, accompanied by their pets, participated in the Heart of Kent Hospice’s annual Bluebell Walk. The event, a cornerstone of local fundraising, raised £40,000 to support the hospice’s specialist care for patients and their families. This year, NewMed, a leader in PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) wellness technology and home of the CELLER8 brand, joined Bedfont Scientific as headline sponsors, amplifying the event’s impact.
The Bluebell Walk, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Kent Downs, offered participants a chance to enjoy nature while contributing to a vital cause. The Heart of Kent Hospice, based in Aylesford, provides end-of-life care and support to those with terminal illnesses, relying heavily on community donations to sustain its services. The £40,000 raised through the event underscores the generosity of the local community and the dedication of its supporters.
NewMed’s involvement extended beyond sponsorship. Members of the NewMed team joined the walk, engaging with attendees and showcasing their innovative CELLER8 Pet PEMF Mat. This portable, non-invasive device uses PEMF therapy to promote recovery, relaxation, and wellbeing in pets by supporting joint mobility, circulation, and natural healing processes. The mat is particularly beneficial for active, ageing, or recovering animals, offering a drug-free approach to wellness.
The CELLER8 range is not limited to pets. NewMed highlighted its applications for human wellness, helping users enhance energy, reduce discomfort, and support overall health. Visitors to the event learned how PEMF technology, which delivers low-frequency electromagnetic pulses, can complement daily health routines for people and their animals alike.
To foster engagement, NewMed and Bedfont Scientific organised a social media competition. Attendees were invited to take photos with the CELLER8 Pet PEMF Mat and tag the companies online for a chance to win a free dog training session with Justin Gilmore, a local trainer from Dog Training in Kent. The initiative encouraged active lifestyles for pets and their owners, aligning with NewMed’s mission to promote holistic wellness.
Andy Smith, CEO of NewMed, expressed pride in the company’s involvement. “We’re honoured to support the Heart of Kent Hospice for a second year,” he said. “At NewMed, we believe wellness should be accessible to everyone, including our furry friends. It was inspiring for some of the team to walk alongside the community and raise funds for such a meaningful cause.”
The Heart of Kent Hospice has been a pillar of support for the region since its founding in 1991, offering services such as inpatient care, home visits, and family support. Events like the Bluebell Walk are critical to its operations, as the hospice relies on fundraising for approximately 80% of its funding. The success of this year’s walk reflects the strength of community collaboration and the impact of corporate sponsorship.
NewMed and Bedfont Scientific’s contributions were widely appreciated. The hospice extended gratitude to both companies, as well as to the walkers, volunteers, and donors who made the day a triumph. The event not only raised significant funds but also fostered connections among participants, many of whom shared stories of how the hospice had touched their lives.
Looking ahead, NewMed reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote health, compassion, and community. The company plans to continue its partnership with the Heart of Kent Hospice, building on the success of the Bluebell Walk to drive further positive change. For those inspired to get involved, the hospice welcomes volunteers and donations year-round to sustain its vital work.
