A Stroke of Luck, launched by a stroke survivor in 2019 has agreed a partnership to work with one of the largest and most respected charities in the UK, the Stroke Association. In April 2020, the World Stroke Organization reported on A Stroke of Luck’s strategy to support stroke survivors through the development of stroke-specific exercise videos which survivors can engage with in the comfort and safety of their own home.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic causing significant challenges to the lives of individuals across the world, and the tragedy of many thousands losing their lives to the virus, depression and anxiety levels are heightening.

Both A Stroke of Luck and the Stroke Association recognise the impact exercise can have on stroke recovery through the results of extensive research. So, have agreed to develop a partnership for the benefit of Stroke Survivors.

Craig Pankhurst, Founder & CEO of A Stroke of Luck said: ‘We are in very uncertain times. Across the globe, stroke survivors are in isolation, and in some cases, are being shielded. This means a lack of social interaction, and the opportunity to attend rehabilitation is temporarily halted. This will naturally cause concern for survivors with the potential to think “what next?”

‘After working closely with the Stroke Association, it seemed like a sensible and logical approach to join forces for the benefit of survivors. By completing exercise at home, it will naturally improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals.’

Kate Charles, from the Stroke Association commented: ‘We are delighted to be entering into this new partnership with A Stroke of Luck. Our charities know just how challenging loneliness and isolation can be for stroke survivors and the importance of exercise in recovery.

‘There are 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK and now more than ever during this pandemic, we must remain focused on making and keeping stroke a priority in the UK and supporting stroke survivors to rebuild their lives after stroke.’

A Stroke of Luck and the Stroke Association are planning to have the first videos available through their respective YouTube channels and social media pages at the end of May 2020.
