Anthony Woods is a qualified Counsellor using Transactional Analysis (TA) and TA Psychotherapist (in Clinical Training). He offers counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and groups.
He is registered with the United Kingdom Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abides by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) code of ethics, practice and conduct.
He has a private practice in Leeds and Bingley, West Yorkshire. He works with clients experiencing a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, stress, relationship issues, bereavement, drug use, panic attacks, anger issues and trauma.
His priority is to understand and value his clients and find ways that enable them to explore, discover and become aware of their potential for personal growth and change. Together with his clients he explores the obstacles which may be blocking their path to achieving their goals, dreams and aspirations.
His main aim is to enable his clients to enhance their life and to live more fully, and to this end he offers his clients the option of engaging in short, medium or long-term counselling/therapy.
He has a specialist interest in counselling clients with bipolar disorders, anxiety and anxiety-based depression as well as working with couples and in employing psychotherapeutic interventions as appropriate.
He has developed a TA Diagram for use specifically in couples’ therapy which offers clients a visual guide for understanding and navigating their process of interpersonal relationship and communication. Currently he is developing a series of creative and interactive workshops for clients with anxiety or anxiety-related depression.
As co-founder of Emerge Therapy, with Nathan Gould, he delivers Anger Management Programmes, and is currently as part of a Pilot Study investigating the effectiveness of Transactional Analysis Counselling in reducing the symptoms of anger in psychoeducational anger management programme group settings.
He has a BA (Hons) in Developmental Psychology (Sussex University, UK, 1981- 1984).
